Resources To Use in Your Program
Videos
Kateri Schrems has used Revolutionary Love a TED talk by Valerie Kaur, with their campus inclusion/diversity team, pastoral care team and several individuals. (This talk is referenced in Parker Palmer’s book On the Brink of Everything.)
Mickey Reed writes: “This video is quite a discussion starter and needs no translation! Iranian short film about empathy and compassion (just over 1 min.) It won an award at the Luxor Film Festival.)
Bobbi Bussan plans to use a film about the suffering redwood forests: Among Giants (from Global Oneness Project) “as a thought- starter for our soup supper. I will use it in a Circles of C eventually too. Works with Compassion and Creation – making a difference.”
Brene Brown’s short YouTube on empathyis both informative and delightful. Could be used to begin conversation about this essential quality of compassion.
Other Resources
Free use of images and photos Erin Matteson alerted me to this website that has a huge amount of visuals.
Self Compassion article “Best Laid Plans” by Jen Hofman. This article contains a true story about how stress & lack of self-care seriously affected her plans.
Always immensely grateful for your compassionate presence and support of the BC program,
Joyce
