Latest News and Updates

Hello to each of you. I returned two days ago from the Four Day Boundless Compassion retreat at Schuyler Nebraska. A training workshop for facilitators followed that retreat. Participants came from 16 USA states, Canada and the UK.  Almost 40 took part in the workshop, as well.  This marvelous group brought with them a vast amount of wisdom and lived experience. Wonderful enrichment for each and all of us. As you know, this is the last four day retreat I will be leading. From now on, I will serve as consultant and coach for those of you who will be facilitating any aspect of the Boundless Compassion program. The good news is that Mary Jo Wulf and Jeannine Kosman have already led a four day retreat. They have another coming in Webster City, IA in August. Plus, they will now lead the four day retreat at Siena Center in Racine, WI in October. I have offered it several times there and am elated about their now moving into this position. If you want to expand your team, encourage these persons to register for one of the retreats.
This month I have two resources for you: A song we used to close the Nebraska training workshop. It would be excellent for any compassion event, particularly for the close of workshops or study groups.
We Shall Be Known, (Karisha Longaker, composer)
We shall be known by the company we keep
By the ones who circle round to tend these fires.
We shall be known by the ones who sow and reap
the seeds of change alive from deep within the earth.
It is time now, it is time now that we thrive.
It is time we lead ourselves into the well.
It is time now, and what a time to be alive,
in this great turning we shall learn to lead in love.
In this great turning we shall learn to lead in love.
You can find the song on YouTube here.

We also used a new poem for the retreat day on Compassion and Suffering: “The Unbroken” by Rashani Rea. The poem can be found on a variety of websites, including this one.

Some unexpected and welcome news arrived this past weekend. I learned that Boundless Compassion received a first place award from the Catholic Press Association. My hope is that this award will help to spread the word about compassion and assist others in accessing ways to deepen their understanding and living of it.
I look forward to hearing from you as to how your involvement with Boundless Compassion is developing. Be assured of my prayers for you each day. We are united in many ways, surely through our mutual kinship of compassion.

May our compassionate presence continue to grow in depth and quality,

Joyce

Compassion provides safe shelter
