Latest News and Updates

Greetings!  This month I have suggestions for videos you might find useful in relation to compassion. As a reminder, Heather Glenn, my efficient website manager, posts the newsletter on the BCF website in the newsletter archives. So, if you are wanting to use one of these videos or other resources and can’t remember what email it was in, you can hop over to the website and take a quick look at the newsletters to find the information there.

I continue to be elated with the great programs being facilitated. Norma Phelan in CA has been leading a study on self-compassion for inmates at a women’s prison. Bobbi Bussan, OSB in Rock Island, IL has recently been invited by the director of nursing at a local hospital to present the Boundless Compassion program to their staff, offering it in increments for their “Sixty Minute Lunch and Learn” seminars. Cheryl Weiser and Betsy Williams continue to plan for a two day Continuing Education event at a local college. (It’s been a challenge to get their “foot in the door” but their patience and resilience will see them through.)

Not long ago, Val Lewandoski forwarded an email with a link to one of Jan Phillips’ videos. I have now explored them and purchased several to be sure I have access when I want to use them in a non-accessible WI-FI situation. These videos are marvelous. You can preview them on her site. (A few are downloadable.) All available at http://janphillips.com/shop/ if you want to purchase any of them.

Also on YouTube.

Excellent for closure of retreat or workshop on compassion. Questions asked: Where did we come from? Why are we here? What do we do regarding the future? How we are part of the creation of the universe today?  Focus: “We are children of the Cosmos.” “We are storytellers for a new way.” A positive and enlightening presentation. “We are saturated with divinity.” “What are you doing to spread the Light?” What sounds are you making for joy and peace?”

Video: One Power Video with song by Daniel Nahmod.  Created by Jan Phillips. Central focus: the power of love in all of life, oneness amid diversity. Could be used to close first evening of BC retreat or after a study of Week One in the Boundless Compassion book or with any Circle of Compassion gathering.

Lyrics to the song are also available.

Video: Think of Yourself  (5 minutes) Also on YouTube

Could be used in a variety of situations especially as the final closing of retreat or as a meditation for a Circle of Compassion.

The following resource is not by Jan Phillips. I recommend it’s use in relation to Compassion for Creation. It is on  YouTube. A talk to the United Nations by 15 year old Swedish Greta Thunberg. A larger extension of this is in her powerful TED talk: The disarming case to act right now on climate change.

Thank you, each one for your heart of compassion and for all you are doing to bring compassion to birth in our world. May our compassionate presence continue to grow in depth and quality,

Joyce

 Who Can Attend?

Due to many BCF now leading study groups using the Boundless Compassion book, and the hope that more teams will be formed by BCF already certified, we’ve extended the possibility of training to the following:

Anyone who has participated in a four day or a weekend Boundless Compassion retreat, a six-session study or similar study on Boundless Compassion (led by Joyce Rupp or a certified BCF) that included the themes of the Boundless Compassion book is welcome to participate in the facilitator training workshop.
